![]() ![]() Readwise is super useful for resurfacing your old highlights (it has spaced-repetition), it can also save twitter threads, and most importantly integrates with a ton of services acting as a glue. The reason I took Raindrop PRO and call it a library/anti-library □♀️ is because when I want to read on a topic, I can search the term, the full-text feature(yes it saves, archives all contents of a page) will give me articles on that topic, I can quickly add a tag, say #instapaper in bulk to all of them and then read on Instapaper(zapier sends them here). He uses Inoreader for that(RSS), I personally have a Gmail label, filters with all newsletters. In case you're worried about newsletters, for that i've attached someone's blog, YT channel(has an IDEA factory video) below. There can be some variants of this, but taking into account Price, Feature parity, developer teams, export,API functionalities I fully endorse this setup. Readwise is the glue b/w them and your final database(evernote/notion/roam) Connect Instapaper to Readwise, and Readwise can then export your highlights, notes, author, other metadata to Notion/Evernote/Roam. Then, read, highlight take notes on Instapaper. Raindrop connected with Zapier can send articles to Instapaper (or for that matter any other highlighter supported like Pocket) which have a certain tag. Now, think of Raindrop as your newsfeed, if you want to read some articles add #toread OR #instapaper tag (or whatever you want) to it. So, i treat Raindrop as a dumpyard, resource collector/curator, anti-library. I'll attach the link below for your convenience. So, in case you are not aware Raindrop has Zapier, IFTTT integrations. Now, my workflow will basically involve Instapaper, Raindrop, Readwise(necessary glue component), Roam Research( could be Notion/Evernote too) The Roam Research community is a big part of that as a lot of people have really great workflows (i'll try to attach some links if I can find them, otherwise ping me later on twitter)įirst of all, yeah Raindrop's awesome. This year finally getting some clarity on a great workflow. ![]() So, some background, I am a CS undergrad student and in the past 4-5 years I've been jumping from one tool to another, which basically involved checking the features of each tool(and its alternatives like Pocket-Instapaper) multiple times each year. Another way I’ve found is to hit Cmd-A when reading the article to select everything, then select the Devonthink Pro - Web Archive Capture service from the App-Services menu.I think I might be able to contribute something useful here. ![]() In the best of all worlds, there would be a little button in the newsreader’s toolbar that I could click and automatically send that article to Devonthink as a web archive. Making progress, I guess.Īny way to get the Instapaper feeds into Devonthink as web archives?īTW, what I’m really looking for is a way to get an article I’m reading in my newsreader (usually Reeder, though sometimes NetNewsWire) into Devonthink. I suppose this is a function of Instapaper, as another feed I set up in Devonthink from a different site actually downloads the feed as web archives (which I much prefer). The method suggested above now does seem to be working, although I notice that what shows up in the Devonthink-Instapaper feed is in the form of URL links, not web archives. I deleted my prior Devonthink folder in Instapaper, and started all over. If there’s another (preferably simpler?) way of getting items from my RSS feeds into DTP, I’d appreciate hearing it! The ideal would just be a button in Reeder that I can click and automatically have the item added to DTP (just like the button I can click in Safari to do that).Īn update: OK, this now seems to be working. Is there a step I’m missing? I’ve refreshed feeds in DTP and the other news readers programs, and nothing ever shows up in the feed. I’ve also added the RSS feed in DTP itself, and it also never sees anything in that feed. I’ve tried this in both Reeder and NetNewsWire, and the RSS feed shows up in my list of subscriptions, but no matter how many different items I put in that Instapaper folder, neither Reeder nor NetNewsWire ever sees anything in that feed. I create the new folder in Instapaper, then click on the button near the bottom on the Instapaper screen to subscribe to the RSS feed for that folder. I’ve tried the suggestion to send to a folder in Instapaper, then subscribe to the RSS feed for that folder in DTP.
